What is Dental Insurance?
Dental insurance is a contract between your employer and the plan adminstrator chosen to process the benefits for dental services. The benefits you receive are based on the terms of the contract negotiated between your employer and the benefit administrator, not your dental office. The goal of most dental benefit policies is to provide basic care for specific dental services which are selected based on the cost of the policy to your employer and the negotiated terms with the benefit administrator.
The benefits you receive are not based on achieving a high quality, complete result, but on contract price. Because the benefits are negotiated between your employer and the plan administrator, many services are not covered. The selection on non-covered services is not based on what you need or want, but is based strictly on the contract between the two parties.
This is why so many dental patients become confused about dental insurance. Dental benefit administrators set up the plans based on profitability and rarely cover 100% of dental fees, and in many cases less than 50% or nothing at all.
Covered and Non-Covered Services
Unfortunately, some of the services you may need or want will not be covered by your dental benefits. Our goal is to help you achieve and maintain optimal dental care, which is not necessarily the goal of your dental plan administrator. The goal of the adminstrator is to provide only the negotiated benefits for the specifically selected services.
We are Preferred Providers and/or Honor the following Network fee schedules*:
Delta Dental (Premiere)
MetLife (we honor fees for Military families)
*Being a preferred provider allows patients to receive dental services at a discount off our UCR (usual customary and reasonable) fees. In keeping with our mission to provide excellent dental care to all our patients, we do not allow benefit adminstrators or employers to dictate necessary treatment, thereby compromising our standard of care or integrity. Patients are provided a comprehensive examination and treatment plan based on clinical need and not plan benefits.
